Hyderabad is the capital of the Indian state Andhra Pradesh, which is located on the Deccan Plateau in the Telangana region of Southern India, and spreads over an area of approximately 625 sq. km. Hyderabad is the largest city in the state, and sixth largest city in India in terms of population. The name “Hyderabad” comes from Hyder, which means lion, and abode, which means city. Hence, it literally means “Lions City”. Founded by Md. Quli Qutb Shah in 1591 on the banks of Musi River, Hyderabad exhibits a glorious history, magnificent architecture and colorful culture. Also known as the “City of Pearls” or the “City of Nizams”, Hyderabad was a trading centre of diamonds and pearls in the historical past.
