In an apparent move to safeguard environment and curb pollution menace in the city, the Noida Authority has reportedly come up with a new ‘green’ clause in the tender documents for the contractors, builders and developers. According to the clause, strict punitive actions will be taken against contractors violating the green norms as laid down by National Green Tribunal.
Moreover, there is also likelihood of tender getting canceled by the authority in view of non-compliance of the green norms.
To the new rules, implementation of construction norms on the contractors will take effect in Noida as an administrative drive to safeguard environment of the city. The bidding document or tender will now require compliance of the construction norms mandatory to follow for any agency and contractor in alliance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Environment and Forests.
Tenders can end up being cancelled followed by violation of the NGT directives. The implementation of the green clause in the tender, as the authority says, has been taken in view of curbing pollution in Noida, revealed the report.
The green clause further reports that NGT rules are mandatory for those involved in the construction of infrastructure projects and developing ongoing projects or independent plots. There are total of 17 provisions added in the tender document according to the advice of NGT, signifying non-compliance with these 17 provisions in the tender document will result in cancellation of projects.
